Have you heard about a geothermal yet a man-made geyser? Well most of the geysers are the ones that are created by nature whereas this one here is a man-made-cum-natural geyser. It is called Fly geyser that is nestled on a private patch of land in Black Rock desert, Nevada. But many of the residents still do not know it exists. It spews water about 5 feet high and it is not open to the public. It was just an ordinary man-made well in the early 1900's. When piping out water, geothermally heated water began to rise through cracks in the well. Though workers tied to cap it off, their efforts were unsuccessful. The repetitive eruptions dissolved minerals and over the time mineral deposits developed the mount and various terrace now surround the ever-growing geyser. We have to thank the thermophilic algae that have made the geyser attractive. They thrive in the wet, hot conditions created by the geysers which made red and green streaks. The site isn't open for public, then how can we visit the place????? Don't worry..as it is located in a private land belonging to someone, you can arrangements and get in touch with the owners. You can get a closer look for a fee.
